How To Use ContentShake?

It is easy to use ContentShake. These five steps will guide you through accessing the Semrush App Center.

1. Set Up Your Page

To begin using ContentShake, start by entering keywords that describe your business.

The tool will then provide suggested related tags based on your input. Select the topics that are relevant to your business, and click on the “Start writing” box to proceed.

2. Choose Your Ideas

The next step is for ContentShake to provide a list of topics. The search intent and traffic potential of a topic can be viewed by clicking on it. Article ideas are provided for each topic in the app. 

Click the Start Writing button after choosing an idea.

• Custom Topics

Click on My own idea to create your own topics. 

• Hiding Ideas

If you don’t want to see certain ideas again, you can hide them by clicking the “hide” icon (a crossed-out eye).

• More About Topics

The number of topics you have access to will vary depending on your subscription plan (free or paid). The topics are sorted based on their volume and difficulty level. Every week, new topic suggestions will be provided to you.

It’s important to note that once you use an article idea, it cannot be used again, and it will no longer be suggested in the future. This ensures that your content remains fresh and unique.

3. Write

Once you have selected your topic, ContentShake will generate an outline for your blog post. This outline includes a title, subheadings, an introduction, and a conclusion. You have the flexibility to edit the outline and add your own text.

Alternatively, you can use the “Compose with AI” button to automatically generate paragraphs of text for your article. Free users have access to three paragraphs per article, while paid users enjoy unlimited AI suggestions for their content.

Furthermore, ContentShake offers the “Ask AI” feature, allowing you to interact with the AI by asking dynamic questions about your article.

This feature provides various benefits such as generating new structure ideas, suggesting related keywords, assisting in writing introductions or conclusions for your blog post, and more.

The AI model, powered by GPT, possesses knowledge of your article’s context including the title, keyword, and typed text, and utilizes this information to provide helpful guidance and answers to your queries.

Under the Suggestions tab, you will find several drop-down options on the right side of the screen. Once you have made your selections for each option, click the Next button to update and optimize your text.

General:

Readability: Set parameters for the readability of your content.

Word count: Define the desired word count for your article.

The tone of voice: Select the appropriate tone for your writing.

Title:

Choose from three options for your article’s headline.

View examples from competing articles for inspiration.

Introduction:

Get three options for an opening paragraph.

Explore examples from your competitors to guide your writing.

Keywords:

Discover several keywords to help optimize your article.

Each keyword is accompanied by the following metrics:

Efficiency: Indicates the difficulty of ranking for the keyword.

High efficiency: Difficult to rank for but potentially brings significant traffic.

Medium efficiency: Relatively easier to rank for and can generate a fair amount of traffic.

Specific efficiency: Describes niche keywords with lower search volume and competition, suitable for targeting specific audiences.

Hover over the Efficiency ranking to see further explanations and additional metrics:

Volume: The number of monthly searches for the keyword.

Difficulty: The level of difficulty in ranking for the keyword (higher numbers indicate greater difficulty).

If you decide to use a keyword, simply click the plus sign, and it will be added to your Target keyword list.

In addition, you can add your own keywords by clicking the “Add keyword” button under the article headline.

Within the Structure section, you will find the proposed heading structure for your article. This structure is generated by AI or based on your competitors’ articles.

Here, you have the flexibility to add or remove headings as needed.

Additionally, you can explore the article structures of your competitors. This allows you to delve into the actual text under each subheader and gain insights from their content organization.

With Structure by AI, you can quickly see what ideas to include in your content with bullet points.

In addition, you can use the AI rewriter integrated into the editor to rewrite any text you copied from the suggestions.

The Images section offers a selection of royalty-free images that you can include in your article. By clicking the plus sign, you can easily add these images to enhance your content.

This section also provides insights into the images being used by your competitors, giving you an idea of what visuals are being utilized in similar articles.

In the Facts and Data section, you have access to various options for additional facts and information that can enrich your article.

By clicking the plus sign, you can incorporate these relevant facts into your content, adding credibility and depth to your writing.

Under Articles for Inspiration, you can explore the articles that your competitors are referencing.

This feature allows you to analyze and take these articles into account, providing you with inspiration and a deeper understanding of the topic you are writing about.

These sections in ContentShake provide valuable resources and references to support writers in creating engaging and well-rounded articles.

From images to facts and inspiration, they offer tools to enhance the quality and effectiveness of your content.

4. Optimize

The Optimization tab provides a quality score on a scale of 1 to 10, based on Readability, SEO, and Tone of voice. 

A drop-down for each category provides more details, so you can make any necessary changes to help improve your text.

• Readability

The Readability section in ContentShake evaluates your article’s readability based on the level you selected in the General section.

It provides a score that indicates how easily your content can be understood by readers. Additionally, it compares your current word count with the target word count you set for your article, helping you ensure that you meet your desired length.

This section also alerts you to any issues with your article’s title, such as exceeding the recommended character or word count limits.

By highlighting these issues, it helps you craft concise and impactful headlines that capture readers’ attention.

Under the Content Issues subsection, you’ll find valuable insights regarding sentence and paragraph length as well as other potential readability concerns.

By addressing these issues, you can enhance the flow and clarity of your content, making it more engaging and enjoyable for your audience.

The Readability section serves as a helpful tool for writers, allowing them to assess and improve the readability of their articles.

By considering factors such as word count, title length, and content issues, writers can create compelling and accessible content that resonates with their readers.

• You can easily address any highlighted issues in your content by utilizing ContentShake’s AI features. Simply select the text you want to modify and choose from the available options: Rephrase, Simplify, Expand, or Summarize.

• When you click on the Rephrase option, ContentShake will help you paraphrase the selected text, enhancing its readability and ensuring it conveys your intended meaning effectively. This feature is particularly useful for improving the clarity and flow of your writing.

• By choosing the Simplify option, you can enhance the readability of your content by simplifying complex sentences. This helps ensure that your message is easily understandable by a wider audience, allowing you to communicate your ideas more effectively.

• When you encounter writer’s block or feel that your sentences or paragraphs lack sufficient detail, the Expand feature can come to your rescue. It helps you add more relevant information or elaboration to your text, making it more comprehensive and engaging.

• Tone of Voice

In the Tone of voice section, you will find a score that indicates the level of formality in your writing, ranging from very casual to very formal.

If you are unsure about the different tones and need guidance on selecting the appropriate one, you can click on “What is it?” to learn more about the range and receive tips for choosing the right tone.

To maintain consistency in your writing, ContentShake provides a consistency score, which helps you ensure that the tone remains uniform throughout your content. This ensures that your messaging and style align with your intended tone.

Depending on your intended tone, ContentShake will highlight any sentences that may seem too formal or too casual.

• SEO

In the SEO section, ContentShake will notify you of opportunities for optimization to improve the search engine visibility of your content.

It will suggest adding keywords to titles and main text, which can enhance the relevance and ranking of your article.

Additionally, it reminds you to include alt text for images, which helps search engines understand the content of the images and can contribute to better SEO performance.

By following these recommendations, you can optimize your content to attract more organic traffic and improve its overall search engine optimization.

5. Share

Once you have completed your article, ContentShake offers convenient publishing options. You can choose to publish directly to your WordPress website using the plugin provided, or you can easily transfer your article to a Google document.

Simply click on the Share button located at the top right corner of the ContentShake app, and you’ll have the flexibility to select your preferred publishing method.

With these seamless integration features, ContentShake makes it effortless to share your newly created content with your audience.

• Share on Google Docs

To access and view the article you have created in a Google document, simply open the Send to Google Docs drop-down menu and click on the Open in Google Docs button.

This will allow you to seamlessly transition from ContentShake to Google Docs and have your article readily available for editing or sharing.

If you wish to share the article with others in a read-only format, you can select the drop-down menu and click on the Copy link button.

This will generate a link that you can share with others, granting them read-only access to the article. It provides a convenient way to collaborate and distribute your content while maintaining control over editing permissions.
