In my time as a blogger and innovative Internet Entrepreneur, I have found a number of different ways to do things. Now for those of you who don’t know what an Alexa ranking is, an Alexa ranking is a global ranking system that keeps track of all the top websites in the world.
For instance, Google has an Alexa ranking of, yes you guessed it, 1. Facebook has an Alexa rank of 2 and YouTube has an Alexa ranking of 3.
The highest I have been able to get on one of my websites on the Alexa ranking system is around 70,000 globally and that’s another thing. Alexa has both, global and local ranks which you can rank for.
So what’s the big deal about getting a really high Alexa ranking apart from bragging rights amongst the who’s who of the IM (internet marketing) industry, well in some circles people believe that your Alexa ranking is just one of the many attributes that Google looks for when ranking your website, it’s also another backlink when you think about it and everything counts right! So how does it work?
What Is Alexa?
What Is Alexa Ranking?
Alexa Rank is a relative estimate of how popular your site is compared to other sites on the web. It can be calculated as such:
Alexa Rank = (Average Daily Visitors to Site) * (Rank)
Referring back to the example, we can calculate what Alexa would say about Squidi.com as follows:
Squidi.com Alexa Rank = (8,753)*(7,547) = 1,641,707
Note that Alexa ranks sites in the USA and Canada with a rank of 100,000. This is because there are many more Americans than Canadians on the web, so the lower “rank” makes sense when factoring in a total number of sites.
By comparison, however, Squidi.com’s rank would be slightly higher than 100,000:
Squidi.com Alexa Rank = (8,753)*(7,547) = 1,641,707 * 100k/country with lowest rank
Squidi.com Alexa Rank = 166,170
So, now that we know what an Alexa rank is and how you can calculate it for your site, we can answer the question: “How is my site doing?” by looking at your Alexa rank compared to other sites.
Note that since a ranking is a relative measure, it has nothing to do with how well you are doing in terms of search engine optimization (SEO), but rather with traffic on your site compared to other sites.
Your Alexa Rank is an estimate of how popular your site is compared to all other sites. The Alexa Rank answers the question: Compared to all other sites, how is my site doing?
Note that since rank is a relative measure, your site’s rank is not only dependent on that site’s traffic, but also on changes to traffic on other sites.
Note that the rank is not a more accurate estimate of how popular your site is, but rather a different way to measure popularity. For example, if Site A gets 100 hits per day and Site B gets 200 hits per day, Site A will have a higher Alexa Rank even though it has less traffic than Site B.
How To Get More Accurate Alexa Ranking?
Certified Site Metrics is a great way to better measure your Alexa rank. To get an accurate rank, sites must be verified by the team at Alexa.
Verified sites provide more accurate metrics for Alexa, but it does not make them any better. There are many benefits of Certified Site Metrics, but an accurate Alexa Rank is just one of them.
To achieve this you need to go to the site on the web and fill out an application form (see link). Once you have filled out all the required fields in the form then your website will be certified, which means that its rank will be more accurate than before.
It will also take less time for users of your website to load the pages on your site because you will have fewer scripts on your site.

Once I installed the Alexa Traffic Rank Browser Extension, I saw a major improvement in my Alexa rank.
After installing this unique website traffic browser extension on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers on both Windows and macOS platforms, you will start seeing web traffic data for any website you visit.
2. High-Quality Content
Be committed to publishing high-quality content on a regular basis. It will help you to improve both your rankings and the number of people that are reading your content.
When I published my guest post on November 4th, I really didn’t expect much to happen.
I assumed that the only thing that would happen is that my Alexa rank would go up (meaning more people are visiting my site).
However, immediately following the publishing of my guest post, my Alexa rank jumped all the way to 2,522,130.
One of the main reasons why my Alexa ranking went up so rapidly because of publishing a guest post is because it generated a large number of high-quality links pointing to my site’s main page.
Whenever a website links to your website, you’ll want to make sure that the link contains a strong keyword phrase.
The stronger and more relevant the link is, the higher it will help boost your relevancy in search engine rankings. High-quality links are going to provide you with an exponential amount of value.
3. Link Building
Link building used to be a very time-consuming and laborious process, but this is no longer the case. Nowadays, link building has become an essential part of marketing and it can be done much faster than before.
The following are some of the most effective methods for link building:
-Guest blog posts –
Guest blog posts generate links from other sites that rank well in Google. The guest post will include a short bio about the author and a link to the author’s company website.
-Native advertising –
Native advertising can take many forms such as sponsored content, advertorials, or branded content. These ads typically appear on websites alongside traditional advertisements.
The ad copy should mention why the product is relevant to readers and at the same time, avoid pushing product placements in a way that seems like blatant advertising.
-Blog networks –
Blog networks allow users to create and publish content at multiple blogs and to cross-link it in order to build their SEO profile.
However, Google has penalized many sites for participating in such activities because they’re unnatural and give people a bad user experience.
You should ensure that the links in your blog network are not solely for search engine optimization purposes, but have relevance to readers as well.
-Sponsored social media –
Paid advertising on social media has become very popular these days. Sponsored tweets, ads, and sponsored posts can all be used for link-building purposes if they’re done correctly.
-Interviews –
Interviews are an excellent way to generate links because they’re guest posts on steroids. If you conduct interviews, be sure to request that the author includes a link at the end of their article. This will help drive more traffic and conversions for both parties.
